Since its establishment in 1989 with the iconic JK Tower, named after Jaskaran Surana, the Surana Group has played a significant role in shaping the commercial and residential landscape of Surat. Here is a chronological overview of the group’s notable achievements and projects:

  • JK Tower (1989): The Surana Group began its journey with JK Tower, the first commercial building on Ring Road. It was one of the pioneering buildings to obtain Building Use Certificate (BUC) at that time, showcasing the group’s vision and commitment.
  • Rajhans, Jeevandeep, and Kiran Chambers: Due to the increasing demand for office spaces, the Surana Group responded by constructing Rajhans, Jeevandeep, and Kiran Chambers, further expanding their presence in the commercial sector.
  • Udhna Shopping Centre and Mahaveer Shopping Centre: In a bid to diversify and meet the needs of different areas, the Surana Group ventured into Udhna, building Udhna Shopping Centre and Mahaveer Shopping Centre.
  • Nirmal Hospital – Wing B: The group extended its expertise beyond commercial buildings by constructing Wing B of the renowned Nirmal Hospital on Ring Road, contributing to the healthcare infrastructure.
  • Metro Tower (1995): Recognizing the requirements of textile traders, the Surana Group developed Metro Tower, catering specifically to their needs.
  • Empire State: Continuing their commitment to providing state-of-the-art corporate spaces, the Surana Group built Empire State, the first corporate-level building on Ring Road. It became a preferred choice for banks, insurance companies, and professionals.
  • Golden Square: The Surana Group further boosted the commercial sector in Surat with the construction of Golden Square, adding to the city’s business landscape.
  • Surana International (2006): Sahara Darwaja witnessed the inception of Surana International, another significant addition to the group’s portfolio, serving as a prominent landmark.
  • International Trade Centre (ITC): The Surana Group constructed the International Trade Centre at Majura Gate, which quickly became the preferred location for corporates, including banks, insurance companies, stockbrokers, mutual funds, and radio stations.
  • Twin Tower (2009): The Surana Group reached new heights, both literally and metaphorically, with the completion of Twin Tower. It stood as the tallest building in the city at that time.
  • Iris Mall (now Surat Central, 2010): Surana Group expanded its ventures into the retail sector with the opening of Iris Mall, now known as Surat Central. The mall featured Future Group’s Central brand on the first three floors and a Cinemax-managed theater.
  • Orchid Tower and Orbit Tower (2011): Orchid Tower on Puna Kumbhariya Road and Orbit Tower on Ring Road were completed, showcasing the group’s commitment to architectural excellence.
  • International Commerce Centre (ICC): Building on the success of ITC, the Surana Group launched the International Commerce Centre. It was the first private building in India to feature an auto-walk or travelator, making it a preferred choice for coaching classes, financial institutions, and professionals.
  • International Business Centre (IBC): Situated on Surat Dumas Road, the International Business Centre became an iconic building and a symbol of Surat’s identity. With its glass façade, design, international brands, and corporate offices, it housed the world’s largest diamond company, DeBeers Group.
  • Fortuna Apartment: Surana Group entered the residential category with Fortuna Apartment. This building featured a granite façade and offered various amenities such as billiards, a gymnasium, table tennis, badminton, a children’s play

Textile Division

The Surana Group’s connection to the textile industry and their commitment to innovation and growth is reflected in their ventures in the value addition and textile manufacturing sectors. Here is the content for the given points:

  • Textile was a family business for the promoters of Surana Group, and to maintain their connection to their roots, Sanjay Surana ventured into the value addition industry with the establishment of Shri Ramanuj Fashion in the year 2000.
  • Shri Ramanuj Fashion is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with technologically advanced, self-made machinery. The unit has become a market leader in various value addition techniques such as foil printing, dew drop, spangle work, and sparkle work. Within just 20 years, the unit has successfully performed value addition on more than 1 billion meters of fabric, showcasing its expertise and efficiency.
  • In 2004, Shree Ramanuj Dyeing and Printing Mills were set up with the vision of becoming a leading mill in its class in India. The dyeing unit boasts five stenters and a team of experts proficient in handling both natural and synthetic fabrics. The printing section of the unit offers three types of printing methods: flat-bed printing, rotary printing, and digital printing. This integrated facility serves as a one-stop textile solution provider across India, delivering high-quality dyeing and printing services.
  • The success of the initial ventures paved the way for backward integration, leading to the establishment of Ace Knits in 2014. This plant specializes in weaving and knitting, equipped with advanced and upgraded machinery. Ace Knits produces a wide variety of fabrics, including knitted, spandex, raschel, and greige fabrics. The unit’s expertise lies in circular knitting, and today, Ace Knits stands as one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of world-class fabric.
  • Recognizing the need for self-reliance, cost reduction, and streamlined supply chains, Shri Krishna Foils was established as an assisting plant for foil printing operations at Shri Ramanuj Fashion. This plant focuses on developing foils used for foil printing techniques. Additionally, it houses a vacuum metallization machine utilized in the packaging industry, further expanding its capabilities.
  • Presently, the textile division of the Surana Group has emerged as a market leader, renowned for its self-reliance and reputation as a reputed manufacturer. With year-on-year growth, the division continues to innovate and maintain its position at the forefront of the textile industry.
